Shipping and Stretch Goal update
almost 3 years ago – Wed, May 12, 2021 at 07:12:10 PM

Greetings,

Here’s an update on everything TSL that has happened in the last month. It’s been a lot!

Advanced Lovers & Lesbians

The Thirsty Sword Lesbians stretch goals book has a name:Thirsty Sword Lesbians: Advanced Lovers & Lesbians!

The content is 99.5% complete. We have a few pages of back matter that need to be edited and put in layout and then we can share the (pre-art) draft with you! The stretch goals have become an entire second book of their own!

Powered by Lesbians

So you want to write something that’s compatible with Thirsty Sword Lesbians? That’s wonderful! We’re offering an open license that will let you make and sell your own works that build on the game. We can’t wait to see what neat new things the community creates that are “Powered by Lesbians!”

Find out all the deets here: https://poweredbylesbians.com/

Domestic Books Shipping

All shipments for backers who completed their surveys by April 10, 2021 have been sent out. For all backers who missed the deadline, we’re capturing the pledges once a week and sending those out!

Tracking numbers were sent via email and available in BackerKit at https://tsl.backerkit.com/backer/

International Book Shipping

All shipments for backers who completed their surveys by April 20, 2021 have been sent out. For all backers who missed the deadline, we’re capturing the pledges once a week and sending those out!

Tracking numbers are not available for international shipments. You may have received an email that says the tracking number is “unavailable”. They were all sent via Royal Mail and should arrive within 28 days.

International orders with more than one copy were accidentally only shipped one copy of the book. The shipper quickly realized the error and sent out the missing copies. They should arrive 3-5 days after the initial shipment.

Incomplete Surveys

We still have about 90 backers who have not completed their surveys. If you’re in this group, please fill out your survey at https://tsl.backerkit.com/ as soon as possible so we can send your rewards!

Declined Credit Cards

We have just a handful of orders with declined credit cards (less than 20). If you got a message that your card was declined, please update it in BackerKit at https://tsl.backerkit.com/backer/. If you have any trouble, or want to arrange another means of payment, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll help you out.

We’ll leave these orders pending till the end of June and then cancel any declined pledges. If you have any concerns that your card was declined, please contact us at [email protected].

Downloadable Content

All backer downloads are available here: https://tsl.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards

Print on Demand (POD) Codes

The print on demand proofs have been approved! We’ll send out the printing codes on June 7th (which is also the day we’ll release the game on DriveThruRPG).

Community Copies

Community Copies will be available on itch.io on June 7th.

Roll20 Updates

We’ll be releasing more Roll20 content in the future! On June 7th, we’ll add a Rules Compendium that you can pair with the existing Core Book Bundle.

After the stretch goals are complete, we’ll start developing Roll20 character sheets and new modules with all the stretch goal content!

We’re so delighted that the Thirsty Sword Lesbians is arriving at peoples homes and download folders. Thank you all for making this amazing game possible!

Printing Complete! Shipping starting soon!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 08, 2021 at 09:08:14 PM

Greetings,

I am delighted to report that our printer just shipped out Thirsty Sword Lesbians to our warehouses!

 What Happens Next?

In order to compile the shipping instructions for our shippers, we've closed the pre-order and sent out the 48 hour notice to all current backers. Once that window closes we'll export the shipping information and send it to our distributors.

Domestic (US) Orders: In the course of the next few weeks they'll start sending the orders our and emailing tracking numbers.

International Orders: First we need to send a large freight shipment to our fulfillment partner in the UK (Mongoose) and then the international ship-out process should proceed from there. Mongoose may take a few weeks to process things once the freight shipment arrives before the actual shipping happens. How long the freight shipment takes to get to them is unknown, but we're hopeful it will be as brisk as that stuff gets, without any massive container vessels clogging up international waterways and whatnot.

I missed the cut off, what do I do now?

If you're a backer who hasn't already completed your survey, go ahead and complete it as soon as you can. (This is especially important for international backers who have not yet responded, as once the supply we ship to Mongoose runs out, we won't be in a position to send shipments to late respondants and will likely have to offer refunds instead.) If you respond late, your order won't be processed in the first round of shipping, but we'll still do what we can to get it out to you as soon as possible following the conclusion of the first round.

If you aren't a backer and want to order a book, we've got you covered.  We printed over 10,000 copies of Thirsty Sword Lesbians and they will be available for purchase on the Evil Hat site and your Friendly Local Gaming Store following the game's release in June of this year (2021).

Behold the Majesty

This book is real!!!! (Tilted in the sunlight to catch some of the gloss effects on the cover, including actually-glistening-in-the-light sweat drops to convey maximum thirst!)

BackerKit Campaign closing soon - Last day to complete your survey is April 4, 2021
about 3 years ago – Tue, Mar 23, 2021 at 03:05:59 AM

Greetings all,

A few fun updates, but first, the BackerKit deadline is coming up soon!

BackerKit Surveys Close April 4, 2021

So shipments go out on time, it's critical that everyone complete their BackerKit surveys by 4/4/2021. Here's the particulars based on where you are:

  •  Domestic Backers: If you miss the cut off, we'll still be able to ship you books, but it will happen through our normal fulfillment methods, not through our Kickstarter shipping campaign. This could mean a delay of up to 3-4 weeks to get your shipment out, as you'll miss the window for the big ship-out.
  •  International Backers: We won't be able to take shipping international orders past the shutdown, because we're only shipping books over to our UK fulfillment partner to get out to international destinations once. This means that if you miss the cut off, our only option will be to refund your pledge.

Print on Demand (POD) Proofing

We just got back our second round of Print on Demand proofs and we're quite pleased with the results. We should have the DriveThru listing and at-cost codes available at the same times as the release of the hardcover book!

Stretch Goals in Development

Last update we were able to share two stretch goals...this update we're able to share thirty.  THIRTY. THREE ZERO. We are so delighted with how these have turned out!

You might even notice an additional couple of names on that list. I had an absolute delight working with June, an avid chess player and chess club founder, to create Queen Pins Queen. A few stretch goals are still in development and need to get through writing, editing, and layout. Once that is done and all is laid out, we'll start commissioning art!

These stretch goal prototypes are available now through BackerKit. One more reason to fill out your survey if you haven't already!

Stretch Goal Preview: Crystalia and Gaylords
about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 19, 2021 at 12:50:22 AM

Greetings,

We're excited to have a preview PDF of the first two stretch goals that were completed:

  •  Crystalia by Ash Kreider
  •  Gaylords by Lucian Khan

These previews are text-complete but pre-art (we'll commission art once we have layout complete on all of them). The are available through BackerKit to all backers at the Flirt and above pledge levels in your Digital Downloads.

Crystalia by Ash Kreider

Play Elemental Archons risking your lives daily to fight against the Necrohorde and take back Crystalia!

The war for Crystalia has raged for centuries between the Necrohorde and those who would resist his benevolent rule. The Necrohorde, led by the Lich Prime and his army of Necromancers, have conquered half of Crystalia. However, the Elemental Archons of Crystalia have put aside their differences to form the Archon Alliance, which yet holds the servants of the Necrohorde at bay. Will Lich Prime finally crush the Elemental Archons beneath his heel, or will the Archons find the secret weapon forged by the Ancients in time to defeat him once and for all?

Ash Kreider is a queer trans game designer, publisher, and sometimes-blogger living in the wilds of Canada with a child, a spouse, two slightly broken cats, and a snake. In addition to publishing their own games, they have also freelanced for companies like Pelgrane Press, Wizards of the Coast, and Onyx Path. Ash is also the author of Go Make Me a Sandwich, a once-popular feminist gaming blog, and do a lot of work to hold and create space for marginalized people in games. You can find their existing games at Peach Pants Press.

Now on Kickstarter!

Ash is currently Kickstarting Our Traveling Home, a Studio Ghibli-inspired fantasy tabletop RPG about queer romance, found family, and finding healing through belonging. TSL's April has had a chance to look at the game herself, and says: "Our Traveling Home lets you put your own spin on familiar stories of found family, reconciliation, and romance. It's also a great entry point to RPGs for players who are looking for more guidance in crafting and playing a character who will mesh well with others and with the broad strokes of the story."

Check it out!

Gaylords by Lucian Khan

Abandon all subtlety, restraint, and good taste in Gaylords, Lucian Kahn's fantasy setting about gay male warlords and clashing rivals. The genre is high camp, which is a comedic and exceptionally homosexual pairing of melodrama and farce, rooted in self-parody. Your story takes place in the Wilde Flamingo Regimes.

This setting is indebted to the works of Aristophanes, Devo, George Etherege, The Golden Girls, John Cameron Mitchell, Molière, Mozart, Suetonius, John Waters, and Oscar Wilde.

Lucian Kahn is the award-winning game designer of Visigoths vs Mall Goths, Dead Friend: A Game of Necromancy, and is co-editor of Honey & Hot Wax: An Anthology of Erotic Art Games. He is trans, Jewish, and a gay-coded villain. Follow his game design updates at bit.ly/luciangames.
